busy listening

Gilbert and Sullivan Set Me Free by Kathleen Karr- I listened to it from OverDrive from the Kansas State Library. I am so in love with the Full Cast Audio recordings! 5 hours.

At Knit's End by Stephanie Pearl McPhee - I listened to the book on CD, 3 hours.

Also, I watched all of "The L Word" season one on DVD in about three days while knitting hats. 2.5 hats, 12 episodes....good times!

it's like Carl Hiassen, but...funnier? sicker? darker? sillier? ....nope, it's pretty much just like Carl Hiaasen!

I listened to the book on CD of Tricky Business by Dave Barry. My favorite part was at the beginning of the narration when he explicitly warns the listeners that there WILL be foul language. Like I said above, in my well-read opinion, this book is completely interchangeable with anything in Carl Hiassen's earlier works, in a good way. It's about a gambling cruise ship out of Miami that goes out in a tropical storm to make a drug/money exchange and chaos ensues.
7 hours.

How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls

How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls by Zoey Dean

Started out like the Devil Wears Prada and ended up like lifestyles of the rich and famous, but an enjoyable romp notwithstandin the improbably circumstances.

I reviewed it for Freshfiction.com 293 pages.

Son of the Mob by Gordon Korman

I finally figured out how to use the Kansas Overdrive Downloadable audiobook service. I downloaded and listened to "Son of the Mob" by Gordon Korman, who 18 years later is still basically the same funny YA author that I adored as a junior high school reader reading his Bruno and Boots series.
I listened to it. about 5 hrs.

I also read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon for book group. Told from the first person perspective of a maths obsessed 15 year old Brit boy with Asperger's syndrome, this book is a great read. 226 pgs.

I re-read Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone by J. K. Rowling for book group. It's a great little story. 309 pages.

love love love

So, I am in a bit of a paperback romance rut. Although I am listening to several audiobooks simultaneously also (yes, this is confusing and a bad idea). Anyway, I actually finished the regency romance Lady Dearing's Masquerage by Elena Greene 281 pgs. and and the ya romance Puppy Love by Jenny Collins 239 pgs.

What's with the lack of reading?

Well, with the holiday and catching up on work, (and leveling up my Belf to 42~!) I haven't been finishing many books the last few weeks. And the ones I have read are pretty light-weight.
I read Talk of the Ton, which is a 4 novella regency collection by Eloisa James and others. 422 pgs of escapist bliss. And I just finished Getting to Third Date by Kelly McClymer, from the Simon Pulse teen romantic comedy line. 291 pgs.
